"What costs should I expect?"
The crack repair is usually free of charge for you, as our service partners work with systems recognised by insurance companies and settle directly with your insurance company. So if the crack can be repaired without replacing the windscreen and your comprehensive insurance covers glass damage, the repair is free of charge.
A crack repair is possible if:
- the damaged area is smaller than a two-euro coin
- the damage is outside the field of vision and more than 10 cm from the edge of the windscreen
- the damage is not one crack or more than three.
By the way: It is always checked first whether it is possible to repair your windscreen. This is significantly cheaper, quicker and more ecological than fitting a new one.
However, if only one of these aspects does not apply, the repair is prohibited according to the rights of road traffic and the windscreen must be replaced. The replacement costs depend on the type of windscreen, the vehicle model and your insurance policy and range from approx. 400 to 900 euros for a standard windscreen.
In most cases, you only pay the excess agreed with the insurance company. You can be sure that your service provider will act in your best interest when settling with the insurance company. If you have only taken out third-party insurance, you will unfortunately have to bear the costs of repairing the windscreen yourself. Either way, it is also financially worthwhile for you to visit our independent auto glass specialist and have your auto glass damage repaired and handled in an uncomplicated manner. You save yourself unnecessary costs and paperwork.
"What do I have to take care of?"
To fully process your auto glass damage, all you need is information regarding the affected window, the name of your insurance company and your licence plate number. You can send this data directly to our Autoglas Competence Center via the contact form (in the respective location profile), with a request to make an appointment. Our location can then make the relevant preparations and contact you regarding an appointment as well as the organisational issues (e.g. regarding a necessary replacement vehicle).
When the vehicle is handed over, only two signatures are required (assignment and data protection declaration), whereupon the Autoglas Competence Center contacts your insurance company, repairs the damage and keeps you up to date. Transparency is particularly important to us here.
